The Town of Ferryland, Newfoundland

Located on the Atlantic coast of Newfoundland along the 'Irish Loop Road' so-named for the roots of its citizens, Ferryland is a must-stop to enjoy the rugged scenery, and especially, a trek across the high peninsula path leading up to the Ferryland Lighthouse and the most delicious lunch and home-baked treats prepared by the Irish girls who manage a kitchen inside the Lighthouse.

Steeped in history and rich in natural beauty, It is here that some of the earliest attempts to colonize Newfoundland took place, and in 1621 Ferryland was officially founded by Sir George Calvert, the first Lord Baltimore.

Located approximately 80 kilometers south of St. John's along Route 10 on the Irish Loop, its unbeatable ocean views and a chance to trek along the rugged peninsula up to the Lighthouse make it a memorable stop.
